Dr. Courtney Meltvedt: pronounced "Mel-vet," sounds like "velvet!" grew up in SoCal and has long been in love with waves and surfing. She attended the University of Southern California, receiving her bachelors degree in International Relations and traveling the world to learn about other cultures. After all that, she still landed back in beautiful sunny San Diego and spent the next few years teaching surfing, just for the joy of it. This journey led her to Florida where she was running a surf camp for the summer and that's when everything changed. One morning she got up to check the surf and as she crossed the street to reach the shore she was blindsided by a truck and hit at 35mph. She suffered several fractures and substantial soft tissue injuries over most of her body. The medical doctors gave her a 12 week recovery timeline and when 12 weeks arrived she was still in so much pain, so she searched for answers and found chiropractic. After the very first adjustment, she knew for the first time that she was going to get better. It was a long recovery, but she started back to school as quickly as possible to fulfill all the prerequisites for chiropractic college. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Life Chiropractic College West and now runs a family practice in Ocean Beach.
